The best shamanic healer is one that is right for you. A healer and a client will sometimes be a good fit or have a certain rightness that might not be there with other perfectly good healers. You should trust your instincts if you feel drawn to a particular healer.
However, its possible that as you look at different healers, your not sure what to look for.
A characteristic of shamanic healing is the uniqueness of the healers. There isn’t one common standard that you can apply to everyone. Not every healer is good at what they do. The fact of the uniqueness of each healer method is a strength because of its adaptability. However, this also makes it difficult, if not impossible, to apply one standard that works for everyone.
There are some things you can look for. Remember, not all shamans are tech savy, so you can always call if you don’t see the information you need on their website. We are providing this list for you reference, as always, you should use your own judgement when choosing a shamanic healer.
Tip 1 – Training
Or a story of how they came to do this work. As mentioned in other articles, a shaman can learn directly from the spirit world. But they usually have a story or a history of training that explains how they came to the work and where they gained their knowledge. If they were never trained how to do soul retrieval, and can’t explain how they learned from the spirit world, then they have not been adequately trained.

The way the healer explains your healing is very important. Shamanic practitioners have to translate to you what they saw and give you a feeling for the essence of what happened. Sometimes, what a healer sees when they are healing you, is only there to inform them of what to do. If they don’t understand the difference between what is shown to them to guide them, and what is shown to them for your information, then they have not learned about the power of the healing story.

A good shaman is one who accepts you just the way you are. Shamans are called the wounded healer, because their own difficulties and traumas are how they learned to be compassionate. Their ongoing healing process helped them learn how to help you.

Some ethical behaviors would include: Good boundaries between you and them so that they behave respectfully and professionally. They would not tell you to stop your current medical treatments. They will not confirm stories of childhood abuse or trauma. They will not pressure you into scheduling a session with them. They may refer you to a different healer if they think one would better match your needs.
Tip 9 – Depth and Time
Shamanic healing is a deep process whose result unfold over time. Shamanic healing is not a quick fix, the power of the healing can be subtle. It is not unusual for someone to have an ah-ah moment. He finally realizes what is wrong and wishes to proceed with a healing right away. Your might feel a sense of urgency to have your healing. That is a common reaction and is a good reason to call a healer.
However, if you are approaching the healing like a 911 call, using terms like desperate and urgent, then shamanic healing may not be what your looking for. In this case, you should contact a professional or agency that is specifically trained in the situation you find yourself in. Its a good thing that you recognize you need help. Shamanic healing can still be used to aid you in what you have going on, in additional to professional help. But urgent situations belong in the hands of professionals, who were trained to deal with your specific situation. You deserve to have that kind of help.
