Where is your energy?
Recapitulation is the process of reclaiming your energy from past events and interactions.
When you think on something from your past and there is still a strong emotional feeling, there is a good chance you still have some of your energy tied up with the event. Even minor interactions may still contain some energy.
The process of recapitulation is to recapture this type of energy by freeing it from the memory. There are a variety of technique to recapture energy from events.
Anyone can perform a recapitulations for their own healing. Shamans often do it because it is necessary for them to become truly powerful healers. However, any form of recapitulation, even if it is on one event, will free up your energy to use now.
You can begin with earliest memories and review your history in a chronological order. You may progress in some other way such as starting with interactions with close relationships and working to more distant relationships. You may focus on events associated with a specific time period, such schooling, or a particular job.
Any time an individual travels to visit past locations, with the intention of letting go of the memories or feelings attached to that location, he is performing a recapitulation of some kind.
Release versus Remember
Once the recapitulation of a particular event or a time period is completed, there would be no reason to recall or review those memories again. The memory may be forgotten completely, or if recalled seem insignificant.
Memories recur to you because they still contain significance. When you are carrying a memory with you, in a real sense you have stored energy in that memory. That energy is then tied up with the memory instead of being available to use in your life now.
You are not trying to analyze the memory during a recapitulation. The stored energy is contacted and released.
A Form of Energy Healing
The healing that comes from recapitulation is real.
Recapitulation is a process where you continue to revisit the memory until any energy in it is truly released.
Very strong and traumatic memories can require a longer time to work through completely. It is best to take recapitulations of traumatic memories in parts. It may be difficult not to become overwhelmed with such memories, which is not the intention of the recapitulation process. If the event cannot be approached by manageable pieces on your own, you probably need to have a healer or therapist assist you with that portion of your recapitulation.
